    Hasraf ‘ HaZ’ Dulull
    ,

The way we are utilizing real-time GPU workflows enables the cross-pollination of our animated feature films with our video games in development simultaneously, thanks to the power of the ProArt workstation with its ProArt Z490-Creator 10G motherboard, and a ProArt PA32UCG 4K HDR monitor.
HaZ started in video games but moved into feature film visual effects, eventually directing and producing a breakout feature film: THE BEYOND. The indie sci-fi flick climbed to No. 2 on the iTunes charts in 2018 before being licensed to Netflix.

For his current project, RIFT, HaZ and his team aimed to simultaneously produce a game and a full-length feature film using Unreal Engine creation tools. To meet this ambitious goal, HaZ selected the ASUS ProArt PA32UCG for its long list of production-friendly features, including crisp 4K resolution, 10-bit color depth, 120 Hz refresh rate, and calibration presets. Coupled with a workstation featuring a ProArt Z490-Creator 10G motherboard, the team was empowered to bring his vibrant visions to life.

    The micro-studio
    The micro-studio
Filmmaker HaZ Dulull and producer Paula Crickard, an industry veteran, co-founded HaZimation as a micro-studio. HaZ and his team develop and produce feature films, TV and video games based on their propriety pipeline and utilising Unreal Engine.

HaZimation develops their own intellectual property (IP) but also co-produces content with other studioses and producers for animated feature films, series and video-game cinematics. The studio includes a small team of creatives, unreal engine artists and game developers ― and they’re currently in production on various animated feature film projects and video games that all lead into the Metaverse.

To HaZ, the decision to make a video game at the same time as an animated film was a no-brainer, mainly because both are being produced in the Unreal Engine. With the video game, his team is able to do things with the narrative that would not be possible in a full-length feature film. The power of the ProArt workstation processor coupled with the NVIDIA® RTX™ graphics card enables them to ambitiously push ahead with simultaneous production of both the film and the video game.

By leveraging cutting-edge tools like the Unreal Engine and powerful ASUS ProArt equipment to simultaneously produce RIFT as a game and a full-length feature film licensed to Netflix, HaZ can work independently as a hands-on director collaborating with an amazing small team.

HaZ particularly enjoys animation as a medium because of the freedom it gives him as a filmmaker to explore other worlds and visually tell stories in bold and exciting ways that are not possible with live action. A ProArt monitor and pre-built workstation powered by a ProArt Z490-Creator 10G motherboard ensure his vision of the project is of the highest quality and exactly as he imagined it to be for the audience to experience.

The demand for being able to work with high-quality graphics at 120 Hz propelled HaZ and his team to use ProArt monitors and PCs. “As a director for both a feature film and a video game, not only are we using Unreal Engine, we’re also color grading in Resolve,” he says. “So being able to switch between various color profiles ― from Rec 709 to HDR via a single 4K monitor when reviewing material ― is a game changer.”
